The state sales tax rate in Texas is 6.25% with the City of Stafford assessing an additional 2%. Of that 2%, 1.5% is directed to the City and 1/2% is directed to the SEDC. This local sales tax is the primary revenue generator for the City of Stafford. At the state level, sales and use taxes account for over 50% of state revenue.
